The Sway Plan
The evidence is consistent but not conclusive. Animal and human studies over nearly a century point in the same direction, and several studies report success rates of around 70-80% when mineral balance is adjusted before conception. Most human studies are small or observational and no large randomised trial exists, so swaying shifts the odds rather than determining the result. See Does diet affect baby gender?
Diet, specifically the balance of four minerals: calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. Among all natural methods studied, dietary mineral balance has the strongest and most replicated scientific support. Timing-based methods have far weaker evidence. Our free guide to 30+ gender swaying methods compares them.
The sperm carries either an X or a Y chromosome, so in that sense, yes. But the egg isn't just waiting passively. Research suggests it sends out signals that can influence which sperm gets to fertilise it, and the environment around the egg, which your diet before conception can affect, may play a part too. Yes, many do. Over the years, so many mums have shared with us that they conceived the girl or boy they hoped for. One mum, after having two boys, followed the Girl Sway Plan very closely for two to three months, tracked her mineral intake and used blood tests to check that her levels were moving in the right direction. She is now mum to a little girl and describes her daughter as the missing piece of their family puzzle. Read her story in Our Missing Piece: A Mum's Story of Swaying for Her Daughter.
Sway natural was founded by Julia Carless, PhD. After having her son, Julia hoped for a daughter, researched gender swaying in depth and built a database of over 250 scientific studies. For over a decade, Sway natural has successfully supported women around the world in their swaying journeys, with many going on to conceive their hoped-for gender. Read Julia's story.
